Setting: Fortes!Verse
Prompt: #120 Red - Drabble Table
Word Count: 190
“Hey, Kitty, what’s up?”
Kitty was just emerging from her room, and closed the door quickly behind her before Scott could see inside. Scott knew she had been keeping to herself, and was starting to wonder if it went beyond mere shyness. Was she hiding something?
“Nothing,” she said, obvious guilt in her voice.
He made a face and reached for the doorknob. He was sort of in charge there, if she was doing something that could be dangerous, or threaten the safety of the other people in the house, he needed to know.
“Hey!” she shouted, trying to stop him and failing. He was about a foot taller than her, and who knows how much heavier. She didn’t stand a chance.
He threw open the door and walked in, looking around. Nothing jumped out at him, he didn’t see anything conspicuously out of place. Then it hit him – the walls were red. He laughed.
“You painted?”
She nodded, afraid she was in trouble. “I know, I should have asked first.”
He turned to her with a smile and a wink. “I like it. Red’s my favorite color, you know.”
