Letter Meme, Day 16
Dearest:
I could kill Manning for sending you on this mission. He should know better - you have a wife and a daughter who is turning two in a week! You shouldn't be chasing after trolls or whatever the hell it is you're investigating this time.
Every night when I put her to bed, she asks when you're coming home. She misses storytime with daddy. I know that is your special time with her, and I hate invading it. I hate even more not being able to tell her when you'll be back. Yesterday she fell running and scraped her knee. When I picked her up and tried to soothe her, she said "Daddy kisses it and makes it better." She loves you so much, John. It's like you hung the moon.
I know we agreed that this is what's best for her, and for our family. But god do I miss the field - saving people, fighting monsters... being a general badass. I went from badass to desk bitch in nine months. You know I wouldn't trade her for the world, she's the best thing to happen to me (after you, of course).
Worst of all, I miss you when you go on missions. I know there are less of them than there used to be, and I know field work is important to you, so I won't ask you to stop. Just... buy a sat phone, okay? Keep in touch more. Read Sam a bedtime story over the phone each night. It would mean the world to her.And I just might be able to stop falling asleep crying.
I love you. Stay safe, and come home soon.
Love,
Katie
