Dear... self:
Don't be nervous. You're going to be a great mom. We've read all of the books... and I do mean all of them. You could probably change a diaper with your eyes closed. John will be nervous, but you knew that. But just wait until he looks into your baby's eyes... he'll fall in love. That's what they say, right? That a woman becomes a mother when she conceives, but a man becomes a father when first holds the baby. He will be great. Have faith in him, he needs you to do that.
I can't wait for the day I get to be you. We're trying so hard... maybe too hard, and that's why it's not working. I want a baby so much, not just for me, but for John too. You know that, though, don't you. You see the smile on his face at the ultrasound appointments. You get to watch him put the crib together, and paint the nursery. I just look at an empty room next to our bedroom, and imagine what it will be like.
Anyway, when I get to be you, I want to remind you to relax. Take the time to enjoy the pregnancy as much as you can. Take lots of pictures, so you won't forget anything. And appreciate every single second of peace that you and John have together, because they are numbered.
Finally, to the pregnant Kitty that I wish I was... remember that your baby was conceived from love. Love that took years to come to fruition, so it only makes sense it would take a few more years for the next step to happen. So love that little girl or boy, and revel in the perfect combination of your eyes and John's smile. You are blessed, Kitty. You are so blessed.
