Prompt: #143 Candles - Drabble Table

It figures, she though, as the lights blinked again. I should have known a house this beautiful, and this cheap, would have problems. It was a gorgeous house, next door to Jack and Liz, and as close to a dream home as she’d ever hoped to find. Now, on their first night in their new house, she was about to learn she and her husband had bought more than just a house.
“It’s not even storming out,” John said, peering out the front window. “And the lights look fine at Jack and Liz’s.”
Kitty joined him by the window. “The whole block looks normal, except us. Didn’t they check the electrical as part of the inspection?”
“I thought so,” he replied, taking her hand and kissing it softly. “I’ll call an electrician tomorrow. For tonight, we’ll just have to make do with candles.” He started leading her up the stairs, a smile on his face and a mischievous gleam in his eye.
“It’s a good thing I’ve got our new bedroom full of lit ones right now, just waiting for us.”
An hour later, as they both drifted off to sleep in the afterglow of love well made, an invisible someone – or something- blew out every last one of those candles.
