“Life sucks,” Kitty whined as she dropped a large stack of thick books onto the coffee table.

“Life, or college?” Alex asked with a smirk.

“Right now, college is my life. So I second what I said. Life sucks.”

He caught her hand and pulled her down next to him on the couch. “I thought I was your life.” His smirk changed into an irresistible pout.

She sighed and rolled her eyes. She did not dignify his statement with an answer... until he kept pouting, and pouting, and pouting.

“Babe, if I made you my life, then I wouldn’t be able to live if something happened to you. Maybe I was being melodramatic about college, fine. Just please tell me you’re not being serious.”

He dropped the pout and pulled her into his arms. “Loving someone doesn’t have to mean making them your whole life. I know that. I was just teasing.”
