The bathroom door slamming shut woke Dana. The sound of retching from behind the closed door prompted her to get up, padding softly down the hall toward the extra bathroom. A quick peek inside Will's room showed him fast asleep. She knocked lightly on the door.
"Kitty, are you okay?"
Her reply was a groan.
"Can I get you anything?"
The toilet flushed, the water in the sink ran, and the door opened. "It must be the flu, I'll be okay." Kitty stumbled across the hall, collapsing in her bed, and passing close enough for Dana to smell the alcohol on her. She laughed to herself... no better way to learn about moderation.
"I'll get you a glass of water."
