Prompt: #234 Strangers - Drabble Table
Word Count: 155
Kitty hurried down the street. She had a date, and she was running far behind schedule.
She weaved deftly in and out of the sea of people, her small stature giving her an advantage. The light at the crosswalk turned red just as she stepped to the curb. She cursed and tapped her foot impatiently as she waited. Then she saw him.
Standing on the other side of the busy street was Peter. She waved to him, confused when he didn’t respond. She squinted her eyes and looked closer. He was definitely Peter… but younger. His hair was poofier, there were less lines in his face… and was he carrying a skateboard?
The light turned from red to green, and she moved forward with the crowd. When Peter passed her, she did nothing but remind herself that as much as she loved her Peter, to this boy on the street, she was just a stranger.
